  • Candlestick Point State Recreation Area – A sprawling 170-acre recreation park, Candlestick Point is the choice destination for windsurfing and kite-boarding in San Francisco. A former landfill, the park was slowly transformed into lush acres of greenery, with plenty of outdoor space for relaxation and outdoor recreation. Hiking trails, picnic areas, and fishing piers are all located within the vicinity.

  • Bayview Park – Located in the neighboring Bayview-Hunters Point area, Bayview Park is well-known in the surrounding communities for hosting some of the most diverse collection of plants in San Francisco. Vibrant flora aside, visitors have also spotted a variety of wildlife in the area, making it a thriving habitat for some local fauna.

  • Heron’s Head Park – A 22-acre open space, Heron’s Head Park is a gathering place for San Francisco’s bird-watchers, with the park attracting over a hundred species every year. The location of the award-winning EcoCenter, Heron’s Head Park has also established itself as a primary destination for environmental education, with educational programs and volunteer opportunities open for everyone who is interested.
